متن کاملCEREBRAL EDEMA: A RARE COMPLICATION IN GALACTOSEMIA
A 34 day-old girl infant was admitted for poor feeding and cholestasis. She had a bulging fontanelle, with no evidence of intracranial infection or hemorrhage. Investigations demonstrated that she had galactosemia. Computed tomographic scans demonstrated the presence of diffuse cerebral edema. After treatment the edema resolved.
متن کاملCerebral Hemorrhage in Experimental Renal Hypertension.
Cerebral hemorrhages are one of the most important causes of death in hypertensive subjects in Japan. Throughout the world, however, there have been a few studies of the pathogenesis of cerebral hemorrhages. In this paper, cerebral hemorrhages were produced by experimental renal hypertension. The fibrinoid necrosis of the small arteries and arterioles in the brain seemed to be the primary patho...
متن کاملCerebral Intraventricular Hemorrhage and Interleukin-6 in Preterm Neonates
Background: Intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH) in preterm neonates is a serious problem in neonatal intensive care units (NICU) worldwide. IVH is reported in approximately 60-70% of very-low-birth-weight (VLBW) neonates. The present study aimed to assess the association of IVH with neonatal characteristics and serum markers, such as serum Interleukin-6 (IL-6) level, in preterm neonates in an aca...
متن کاملGlobal cerebral edema and brain metabolism after subarachnoid hemorrhage
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Global cerebral edema is common among patients with poor-grade subarachnoid hemorrhage and is associated with poor outcome. Currently no targeted therapy exists largely due to an incomplete understanding of the underlying mechanisms. METHODS This is a prospective observational study including 39 consecutive patients with poor-grade subarachnoid hemorrhage with multimoda...
